DEPARTMENT OF FINANCIAL SERVICES REPRESENTATIVES TO JOIN BABYLON HELPS TO OFFER AID TO SUFFOLK COUNTY STORM VICTIMS
Program Will Be Offered at the American Legion Hall in Babylon Village
10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 23
Benjamin M. Lawsky, Superintendent of Financial Services, announced that representatives of the Department of Financial Services (DFS) will join Babylon Helps, a coalition of civic organizations and religious groups in the Village of Babylon on Saturday, Feb. 23 to offer insurance assistance and related resources to Suffolk County residents recovering from Superstorm Sandy.
Residents will be able to meet with Department representatives and groups from Babylon Helps in the Department’s Mobile Command Center which will be stationed at the American Legion Hall in Babylon Village, 22 Grove Place. Representatives will be available from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Department’s representatives will help homeowners, renters and business owners with insurance-related issues, including answering their questions and helping them understand specific issues related to their insurance policies.
Babylon Helps includes the Babylon Rotary Club, Lions Club, Women’s Club, Men’s Club and local religious and athletic organizations. These groups have banded together to provide the community with assistance including hot meals and property clean-up following the storm, mental health services and seminars on rebuilding resources. Babylon Helps representatives will also be available to discuss community resources available to consumers.
Residents with insurance questions who unable to go to the Mobile Command Center are encouraged to call the DFS hotline at 1-800-339-1759 which is staffed from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Insurance information is also available on the DFS website, www.dfs.ny.gov.
