If you were enrolled in Healthy NY as of March 23, 2010, and did not make any subsequent changes to your coverage (other than adding or removing dependents or adding prescription drug coverage), you have the option of continuing your Healthy NY as grandfathered coverage.
Grandfathered sole proprietor contracts with prescription drug coverage may not retain the $3,000 annual cap but will continue to have a $20 co-payment for preventive services.
You may elect to change your grandfathered coverage to non-grandfathered at the time of annual recertification or whenever you experience a premium rate change. It is also important to note that if you remove prescription drug coverage, switch to a High Deductible Health Plan, or switch your coverage to another HMO, you will lose grandfathered status.
