Fraud
Is it a requirement that a company set up a special investigation unit?
Answer: As mandated by law, the Department promulgated the Second Amendment to Regulation 95 which requires every insurer that writes 3,000 or more policies of specific types of insurance to develop and file with the Frauds Bureau a Fraud Prevention Plan. This Plan must include the establishment of a Special Investigations Unit for the detection, investigation and prevention of insurance fraud.
