PreLicensing Education Program
As outlined in Sections 2103, 2104 and 2108 of New York State Insurance Law, an individual seeking to be licensed as an insurance producer or a public adjuster must pass the appropriate licensing exam. Before taking this exam, the licensing candidate must complete a Department approved prelicensing course, which is delivered by an approved Provider Organization (Provider).
Those seeking to become an approved Provider must meet the requirements outlined in the Prelicensing Criteria and submit all required applications and documentation. Links to the downloadable Criteria document and all applications are provided below.
To prepare the candidate for the licensing exam, the Provider must offer courses covering topics contained in the most current content outlines. Exam Content Topic Locators must accompany all course approval applications. Links to downloadable forms are provided below.
