MARK PRESSER NAMED CHIEF OF INSURANCE DEPT.S PROPERTY BUREAU
New York, January 28, 1998
Superintendent of Insurance Neil D. Levin today announced the appointment of Mark Presser as permanent Chief of the newly organized Property Bureau. Mark has been the Bureaus acting Chief since December when, as part of the reorganization of the Department, Superintendent Levin announced the merger of the Financial Condition/Property and the Property and Casualty Bureaus.
"I would like to congratulate Mark on his promotion and I wish him well as he brings his 25 years of experience to the leadership of the Property Bureau. He is uniquely prepared for the opportunities and challenges which lie ahead," said Superintendent Levin.
Mr. Presser has been with the Department since 1973. He entered state service as a Junior Insurance Examiner and progressed rapidly through the competitive civil service system with successive promotions until he reached the title Chief Insurance Examiner 2 in 1996.
Mr. Presser is extremely knowledgeable in all facets of property/casualty regulation. The many strengths he brings to the position are his abilities to view insurance in the global perspective, to effectively articulate the Departments position in all forums, and to manage a large diversified work force.
