DEPARTMENT STREAMLINES ORDERING OF PUBLICATIONS
THROUGH AN 800 NUMBER AND ITS WEBSITE

Superintendent of Insurance Neil D. Levin today announced that the Insurance Department has streamlined its internal procedures so that the public will be able to order publications and consumer guides more quickly and more efficiently.
Effective today, the Departments process for printing and mailing consumer brochures and publications is being centralized in the Departments Publications Unit in Albany.
Publications can be ordered by calling 1-800-342-3736 or in certain cases downloaded by logging on to the Departments website at www.ins.state.ny.us.
"The Department has many fine consumer guides, dealing with how to buy auto and homeowners insurance, long-term care coverage, as well as life insurance," said Superintendent Levin. "In addition, we publish various rankings of the complaint handling ability of health insurers, HMOs and auto insurance companies. This new procedure for ordering publications will centralize our operations, and allow us to respond more quickly to requests for these publications."
