NEW YORK STATE INSURANCE DEPARTMENT TO HOLD THREE
PUBLIC HEARINGS ON MVP HEALTH PLANS PROPOSED RATE INCREASES
New York, November 5, 1998
The New York State Insurance Department has scheduled public hearings November 19th and November 20th in Newburgh, Poughkeepsie and Schenectady to consider an application for subscriber rate changes by MVP Health Plan and MVP Health Service Corporation. MVPs headquarters are located at 111 Liberty Street in Schenectady.
The hearings will be held on the following dates and times:

The companies proposal involves removing Orange and Putnam counties from the Central rating region to create their own region.

PROPOSED EFFECTIVE DATE: January 1, 1999
Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs) and health service corporations can not change subscriber rates more than +10% without the prior approval of the Insurance Department.

Those wishing to speak at the hearing should notify Deborah Greer at (518) 474-4567 at the Insurance Departments Albany Office.
Those unable to attend the hearing may submit written statements for inclusion in the official record within ten days of the hearing date to the Public Affairs & Research Bureau at the Insurance Departments New York City Office. In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Department will provide a reasonable accommodation, such as a sign language interpreter, a qualified reader, etc., at no charge to any covered individual wishing to attend or testify at the hearing when such a request is made at least 7 days before the hearing.
