SUPERINTENDENT LEVIN ADVISES CONSUMERS TO CALL
DEPARTMENT HOTLINE FOR STORM-RELATED ASSISTANCE
July 7, 1999
Superintendent of Insurance Neil D. Levin today announced that the Insurance Department is available to help New Yorkers whose property was damaged by the wind storms that swept through the Capital District yesterday. Consumers are encouraged to call the Insurance Departments toll-free emergency hotline for assistance with any storm-related inquiries or complaints. The toll-free telephone number is 1-800-339-1759.
The Departments hotline is staffed from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. by insurance experts from the Departments Consumer Services Bureau. The Department will also be working with the State Emergency Management Office (SEMO) to assess damages in the affected areas and provide further assistance to New York State homeowners.
The Department reminds New Yorkers with damaged property that they should be contacting their individual insurer representatives as soon as possible. They should also be making every effort to protect their homes from further damage, such as covering any roof damage that has occurred as a result of the storm.
