DEPARTMENT TO HOLD PUBLIC HEARING
ON CAPITAL DISTRICT PHYSICIANS HEALTH PLANS
PROPOSED RATE INCREASES
The New York
State Insurance Department has scheduled a public hearing on December 3rd in
Albany to consider an application for subscriber rate changes by Capital District
Physicians Health Plan.
The
hearing will be held on December 3rd at 11:00 AM at the Plans office at
17 Columbia Circle, Albany, NY.
COMMUNITY-RATED CONTRACTS AND RIDERS AFFECTED:
a) NYS Standardized
Individual Contracts
b) Prescription Drugs
c) Medicare Carve-Out Riders
with Prescription Drugs
WEIGHTED AVERAGE PERCENTAGE CHANGE REQUESTED:
a) 37.9%
b) 58.6%
c) 35%
MEMBERSHIP AFFECTED: 174,000
PROPOSED EFFECTIVE DATE: January 1, 2000
Health
Maintenance Organizations (HMOs) are not permitted to change subscribed rates more than
10% without the prior approval of the Insurance Department.
As an aid to the
public, the Plan is making available to the public a summary of facts supporting its
application. A copy may be obtained from the Plans office or from the Insurance
Department.

complete subscriber rate increase application may be examined at the Plans office at
