DEPARTMENT TO HOLD PUBLIC HEARING ON
INDEPENDENT HEALTH ASSOCIATION’S – HUDSON VALLEY DIVISION
PROPOSED RATE INCREASES
       

           The New York State Insurance Department has scheduled a public hearing December 6^th in White Plains to consider an application for subscriber rate changes by Independent Health Association – Hudson Valley Division.          

           The hearing will be held on the following date and time:

December 6 in White Plains
White Plains Public Library
100 Martime Avenue
White Plains, NY
10:30 AM

WEIGHTED AVERAGE PERCENTAGE CHANGE REQUESTED:
           a) 39.7%
           b) 60%

MEMBERSHIP AFFECTED:
           a) 487 Direct-Pay Members
           b) 5,000 Pharmacy Subscribers

PROPOSED EFFECTIVE DATE: January 1, 2000

           Health service organizations or HMOs are not permitted to change subscribed rates more than 10% without the prior approval of the Insurance Department.

           As an aid to the public, the Plan is making available a summary of facts supporting its application available to the public. A copy may be obtained from the Plan’s office or from the Insurance Department.

           A copy of the complete subscriber rate increase application may be examined at the Plan’s offices at: 200 White Plains Road, Tarrytown, NY and at the offices of the Insurance Department:

           Those unable to attend any of the hearings may submit written statements for inclusion in the official record to the Public Affairs & Research Bureau at the Insurance Department’s New York City address.
