SUPERINTENDENT SERIO AND DEPARTMENT SPECIALISTS BRING STATE INSURANCE
DEPARTMENT OPERATIONS TO BUFFALO AUGUST 6-9
Department Takes Insurance Operations on Tour of the State - First Stop Buffalo
Superintendent Gregory V. Serio today announced that the New York State Insurance Department will be operating out of Buffalo, New York from August 6-9 as part of a Department initiative designed to bring state insurance services closer to the people throughout New York State.
"Bringing the Insurance Departments services to consumers around the state of New York is an important initiative and I am excited that Buffalo is our first stop," said Serio.
The Department will meet with various consumer groups in the Buffalo region and will hold information seminars and meetings to address Western NY insurance issues and provide area residents an opportunity to voice their concerns or discuss insurance related matters.
New York State Insurance Department staff are available to discuss health, life, automobile and homeowners insurance, as well as obtain publications and brochures and submit consumer complaints by calling the Buffalo office at 716-847-7619.
There will be a public forum on August 8, 2001 to discuss Healthy NY, a program which provides health insurance to the working uninsured and their families. The forum, from 7-9pm, is open to the public and will be conducted by Superintendent Serio and Department specialists at:
Buffalo State University
1300 Elmwood Avenue
Buffalo, NY 14222
Recently the Insurance Department was able to work with insurers in Western NY to resolve various area issues. For example, on July 16th, the Department identified health insurers to assist former employees of Empire Specialty Steel of Dunkirk in replacing coverage lost as a result of the companys bankruptcy.
