INSURANCE COMPANY REPS AVAILABLE FOR CONSUMERS AT PIER 94
Company Representatives Will Assist Consumers with Insurance Claims
           

            Superintendent Gregory V. Serio today announced a new insurance service center at Pier 94 in Manhattan staffed by representatives from insurance companies to assist New Yorkers as they begin to file claims as a result of the tragic attack on the World Trade Center. Additionally, staff from the Department’s Consumer Services Bureau will be on site to help with insurance-related questions.

            Pier 94 is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week, and is located at 52nd Street and 12th Avenue.

            "Having insurance company representatives from all lines and consumer service representatives available will provide affected New Yorkers with quick and easy access to insurance companies. This center is effort to expedite insurance claims and ensure fast and proper recovery of payments," said Serio. "We remain committed to helping in any way we can to ease the burden of this terrible tragedy."

            In addition, the New York State Worker’s Compensation Board and State Insurance Fund will have representatives available to assist consumers.

            The Insurance Department also has representatives at the Command Center of the New York City site of the Office of Emergency Management which is designed to augment disaster efforts during this emergency. The Command Center is located at Pier 92.

            The Department has established a toll-free disaster hotline, 1-800-339-1759, to help consumers and insurers with any disaster-related questions which is available from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week. The Department has satellite customer service offices located in Westchester County at 75 South Broadway (across from the Westchester Mall) in White Plains and in Nassau County at the Insurance Department’s offices at 200 Old Country Road in Mineola.
