AVAILABLE IN AFTERMATH OF CRASH OF
AMERICAN AIRLINES FLIGHT 587
Superintendent Gregory V. Serio today announced that the dedicated toll-free disaster hotline, established after September 11th, continues to be available to help assist all New Yorkers and the insurance community with questions on claims, procedures, and general insurance concerns in the aftermath of yesterdays crash of American Airlines Flight 587 in Queens, New York.
"The Department remains committed to offering important resources to all New York citizens and insurers in the aftermath of the plane crash in Belle Harbor, Queens," said Serio.
The hotline is available seven days a week between the hours of 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. at 1-800-339-1759. In addition, the Department is coordinating with Emergency Management representatives to make personnel available on-site to assist in handling claims.
The Departments Licensing Bureau is also available daily from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to assist in the issuance of temporary adjusters permits. The number for the Licensing Bureau is 518-474-6630.
The Departments Web site address is www.ins.state.ny.us. Consumers can now file insurance complaints against insurance companies, agents/brokers and other State licensees on the Web site. This new on-line complaint form provides improved responsiveness to meet the needs of all New York State consumers.
