FINANCIAL EXPERTS DISCUSS INSURANCE ISSUES AT DEPARTMENT CONFERENCE
Capital Markets Conference Hosted by Department Focuses on Insurance Matters

          The New York State Insurance Department yesterday hosted the first annual Capital Markets Conference for members of the Department and the insurance industry. Experts in the financial services arena attended to discuss capital markets issues facing the insurance industry.

          "The NYS Insurance Department is the first in the nation to have a Capital Markets Bureau and since its inception in 1999 it has been an invaluable tool for the Department," said Superintendent of Insurance Gregory V. Serio. "This first annual conference is vital to gather information from the industry as the Department’s Capital Markets Bureau becomes a more critical player in the financial services industry in the 22nd century."

          Over 100 industry executives attended the conference which was highlighted by presentations by Gus Harris, Managing Director at Moody’s Investors Service, Jonathan Hecht from Tillinghast – Towers Perrin, Antonio Marfia, Chief of Risk Management for the NYS Banking Department and Jack Buchmiller and Paul Hannon, Risk Management Specialist at the NYS Insurance Department.
