          Superintendent Gregory V. Serio today announced that the New York State Insurance Department will be operating out of the Southern Tier of New York State from March 13-15 as part of a Department initiative designed to bring state insurance services closer to the people throughout New York State.

          "Building on the Governor’s Capital For A Day initiative to bring State services to New Yorkers throughout the State I am excited about the Insurance Department’s upcoming visit to the Southern Tier," said Serio. "The Insurance Department commenced these statewide visits last summer with our first stop in Buffalo to discuss Western NY issues. Our Western NY visit was a huge success and I look forward to continuing this important initiative in Binghamton, Elmira, Ithaca, Norwich, and Cortland."

          The Department will meet with consumers, area business leaders, elected officials, insurance agents, insurance company representatives, doctors, and various fraud fighting agencies to discuss Southern Tier insurance issues and how best to work together to provide insurance services to New Yorkers. In addition, the Department will hold information seminars to provide area residents an opportunity to voice their concerns or discuss insurance related matters.
