CONSUMER ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE FOR THOSE AFFECTED BY EARTHQUAKE UPSTATE
           

Superintendent of Insurance Gregory V. Serio today announced that the Insurance Department is available to help New Yorkers whose property was damaged by the earthquake in the North Country earlier this year. Consumers are encouraged to visit the Assistance Center set up in the town of Lake George for assistance with any earthquake-related inquiries or complaints.

            Consumers who have insurance related questions or problems can speak personally with a Consumer Services Examiner beginning tomorrow. The examiner will be available at the Town Center, 23 Old Post Road, Lake George. The Assistance Center will be open, Tuesday 9am-6pm, and Wednesday 9am-8pm.

            In addition, the Department’s Disaster Hotline, toll-free 1-800-339-1759, is staffed from 9am to 5pm by insurance experts from the Department’s Consumer Services Bureau.
