FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
DEADLINE TO FILE HOLOCAUST INSURANCE CLAIMS EXTENDED TO MARCH 2003
Superintendent of Insurance Gregory V. Serio today advised that the deadline for Holocaust survivors and their heirs to file insurance claims with the International Commission on Holocaust Era Insurance Claims (ICHEIC) to obtain benefits from any Holocaust-era insurance policies has been extended to March 30, 2003.
"ICHEICs decision to extend the deadline reflects the spirit of the Commission to ensure that victims of the Holocaust have their valid insurance claims honored. The additional time frame enables insurance companies to fulfill these commitments," said Serio.
The New York Holocaust Claims Processing Office stands ready to assist all insurance claimants. Their toll-free telephone number is 800-695-3318. In addition, claim forms may be obtained by calling the international commission toll-free at (800) 957-3203 in the United States or visiting the ICHEIC Web site at www.icheic.org.
The new deadline has been re-extended by ICHEIC after deadlines were set for February 15, 2002, and September 30, 2002.
