"Utilization of the Internet to complete Continuing Education requirements enables producers to use technology to meet the necessary standards more efficiently," said Serio. "All Producers; agents, brokers, consultants and public adjusters, provide the State with vital services and the Department remains committed to working with them to meet their licensing needs."
A complete revision to the Rules of the CE Program, known as the Clearly Defined Criteria have been approved. The first change is the elimination of the classroom requirement. Previously, half of the credits needed to be completed in classroom courses. The second change allows for of all 15 credits to be completed via self-study courses, textbook courses, as well as the Internet. In the past only 50% of the course credits were allowed to be completed through self-study courses, textbook courses, or the Internet.
These changes are effective immediately and apply to all future license renewals subject to CE requirements and also apply to the current renewal of Life Insurance Agents.
"I am pleased that these changes were completed with the active participation of Industry Provider representatives making this truly a collaborative effort," added Serio.
