GET SMART ABOUT INSURANCE WEEK MEDIA ADVISORY

NEW YORK STATE INSURANCE AND FIRE OFFICIALS HOLD PRESS CONFERENCE TO ADVISE NEW YORKERS OF STEPS TO TAKE DURING COLD WINTER SEASON TO PREVENT FIRES AND EMERGENCIES IN YOUR HOME AS WELL AS WHAT INSURANCE COVERAGES ARE AVAILABLE FOR SUCH EMERGENCIES

WHAT:

 Fire experts join insurance regulators to offer winter fire safety tips and encourage New Yorkers to take simple steps to prepare themselves and their homes in case of a fire.

WHY:


Winter months are typically peak months for home fires. In addition, the recent frigid conditions in the Northeast have caused fires as individuals try to stay warm or to defrost pipes, etc. Further property damage from water leaks and broken pipes has been done to homes and commercial buildings because of the severe weather.

In addition, January 19-23 is Get Smart About Insurance Week, and reminds all of us to take time to review our policies and make sure we have adequate insurance coverage for such occurrences.
