DEPARTMENT ANNOUNCES AVAILABILITY OF LIFE INSURANCE EXAMS IN SPANISH
Superintendent of Insurance Gregory V. Serio today announced that candidates applying to become life insurance agents now have the option to take written licensing examinations in Spanish.
"Now Spanish-speaking New Yorkers are afforded the opportunity to take life insurance examinations in Spanish to become licensed agents and part of the vibrant New York State insurance community," said Serio. "This is another enhancement to the licensing process and further evidence of the Departments commitment to meeting the needs of New Yorks diverse producer community."
The content of the exam is the same as the English language exam and covers various topics in the life insurance areas, demonstrating the candidates knowledge of the field to properly service the insurance buying public. The topics the candidate must be familiar with to pass the exam are as follows: state insurance regulations and law, general and life insurance concepts, elements of insurance contracts including life insurance policy provisions, life insurance basics, licensee responsibilities, underwriting by the insurer, various types of annuities, tax considerations of life insurance and annuities, qualified retirement plans and endowment contracts.
These exams are administered by Experior Assessments, LLC and will be available in all 15 test centers across New York State. For more information about the exam visit the Departments Web site at www.ins.state.ny.us.
