MILLS OFFICIALLY OPENS NEW LONG ISLAND SATELLITE OFFICE

Superintendent Howard Mills announced today that the New York State Insurance Department has opened a new Long Island satellite office in Mineola, New York and marked the occasion with a ribbon-cutting ceremony that was attended by elected officials and other dignitaries. The Insurance Department’s new office is situated at 163 Mineola Boulevard, not far from the agency’s previous location at 200 Old Country Road, Mineola.

"Today’s ribbon-cutting is tremendous news for Nassau and Suffolk residents because there is now an easily accessible place for them to learn more about what their insurance policies cover, get an answer to an insurance-related question, or file a formal complaint against an insurer," said Superintendent Mills.

The Insurance Department’s ground floor location along Mineola Boulevard and its proximity to a municipal parking lot are enhancements over the previous office, which was on the building’s third floor and far from publicly-available parking facilities. Besides housing Consumers Services Bureau professionals, the new Mineola site will as in the past also be home to a number of the Department’s Frauds Bureau investigators. The Insurance Department has entered into a five-year lease agreement with the owners of 163 Mineola Boulevard, Mineola.

Despite the move, the Department’s Nassau phone numbers remain the same. Consumer Services can be reached at 516-248-5886 whereas the Frauds Bureau’s phone number is still 516-248-5870.

In addition to its main office at 25 Beaver Street in Manhattan’s Financial District and the one opening officially today on Long Island, the New York State Insurance Department also has offices in Albany, Buffalo, Oneonta, Rochester, and Syracuse.
