INSURANCE DEPARTMENT ACTIVATES WESTCHESTER DISASTER
RECOVERY CENTERS FOR CONSUMERS AFFECTED BY RECENT STORMSNew York State Insurance Department personnel have been deployed at multiple locations in Westchester County to assist residents of communities struck by severe flooding. Department personnel will be available to answer inquiries regarding insurance policies and coverage, as well as to assist with insurance-related complaints.
Disaster recovery centers are being operated today and over the weekend. Operations are expected to continue through next week, as needed, at the following locations:
- Eastchester Town Library, 11 Oak Ridge Place, 1 to 8 p.m., today, and thereafter from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Mamaroneck Town Center -- Senior Nutrition Community Center, 740 W. Boston Post Rd., 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., daily
The Departments Mobile Command Center is being dispatched to New Rochelle where it will be located at 90 Beauford Place. The MCC will open to the public 1 to 8 p.m., Saturday, and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday through Tuesday, after which, it will be sent to other Westchester County locations to assist in the flood recovery effort.
In addition to the on-site disaster recovery efforts, residents seeking assistance on insurance questions may also contact the Departments Disaster Hotline 1-800-339-1759 on weekdays between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
The disaster recovery efforts follow flooding caused by heavy NorEaster rains two weekends ago. On Tuesday, the Westchester County and other parts of the region were declared eligible for federal disaster assistance.
