GENNAOUI NAMED CHIEF OF INSURANCE CONSUMER SERVICES UNIT
New York State Insurance Superintendent Eric R. Dinallo today announced the appointment of Mitchel Gennaoui as Assistant Deputy Superintendent and Chief of the Department’s Consumer Services Bureau.
“I am pleased to announce Mitch Gennaoui’s appointment because he has been an outstanding member of our Department for many years. He provides strong leadership in our Consumer Services Bureau, which has a vital role in protecting the interests of all New York consumers,” said Superintendent Dinallo.
As Bureau Chief, Gennaoui is responsible for directing all operations of the Bureau, which receives and investigates consumer complaints, answers consumer questions about insurance, provides disaster assistance services, and conducts consumer education and outreach programs.
Gennaoui was previously Assistant Bureau Chief, responsible for the operation of the Bureau’s offices in New York City, Albany, Buffalo and Mineola, and overseeing major cases and investigations, legislation and disaster assistance. Previously, he was an Examiner with the Department’s Consumer Services and Life Bureaus. He joined the Department in 1976.
A native of Brooklyn, Gennaoui graduated from Brooklyn College. He is a member of the Insurance Regulatory Examiners Society. He resides in Brooklyn with his wife, Kathleen, and their three children.
