| ISSUED 3/10/2009 | FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE |
Michael R. Waldron, 39, of Greenfield Ave., Ballston Spa, was arrested Friday on charges that he accepted $2,450 in workers’ compensation benefits for lost wages while falsely claiming that an injury prevented him from working, the New York State Insurance Department reported.
Waldron was arrested by state police at Saratoga following an investigation by John Toucher of the Insurance Department’s Frauds Bureau and the New York State Insurance Fund. Waldron was charged with insurance fraud and workers’ compensation fraud. He is accused of filing documents with the Insurance Fund declaring that he was not working, while he was employed as a dry wall installer.
If he is convicted, Waldron could be sentenced to up to one year in prison. He was released pending a hearing in Town of Milton Justice Court. The case is being prosecuted by Saratoga County Assistant District Attorney Patrick Campion.
