Eric R. Dinallo Superintendent of Insurance 25 Beaver Street New York, N.Y. 10004
| ISSUED 03/19/2009 | FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE |
Junior Saintfleur, 33, of Vermont View Drive, Watervliet, was arrested March 11 for collecting a $3,000 insurance claim after falsely reporting that damages to his 2004 Jaguar were caused when an unknown vehicle struck the car while it was parked at his home.
An investigation by Jaclyn Oreshan of the New York State Insurance Department’s Frauds Bureau revealed that the damages actually occurred while Saintfleur was driving the car and was involved in a traffic accident on Jan. 3. Colonie police arrested Saintfleur for insurance fraud and attempted grand larceny. He is accused of hitting two unoccupied vehicles and then submitting the false insurance claim to Geico Insurance Company.
Saintfleur was arraigned before Town Judge Peter Crummey and released in his own recognizance pending a hearing scheduled on April 1. If he is convicted, Saintfleur could be sentenced to up to four years in prison. The case is being prosecuted by Albany County Assistant District Attorney Brad Sherman.
