| ISSUED 4/30/2010 | FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE |
A Monroe County man who filed a $3,900 insurance claim to cover damages that occurred before he bought an automobile insurance policy was arrested Wednesday, the New York State Insurance Department reported.
Frederick Kalie Cutcher, 25 of East Road Pittsford, was arrested after an investigation by the Insurance Department's Frauds Bureau and the Monroe County Sheriff's Department.
Investigators said Cutcher bought a policy from Progressive Insurance Company on Jan. 18, a day after his car was damaged in a traffic accident, and then filed a claim several days later. He claimed the accident occurred after he bought the policy.
Cutcher is charged with third degree insurance fraud. He was released pending a hearing in Monroe County Court.
