Consumer Outreach Center Opens for Those Impacted by the WTC Disaster

Superintendent Gregory V. Serio today announced that the Insurance Department will open an office in Suffolk County to meet the needs of consumers in that area who may have been affected by the World Trade Center disaster.

The office will open Saturday, September 22nd and will provide direct contact with Department personnel to those impacted by the disaster. Department staff will be available to answer questions regarding claims, procedures and all disaster-related insurance questions.

The office is located at:

250 Veterans Memorial Highway, 1st. Floor
Hauppauge, New York 11788
Hours 8am-8pm, Sunday through Saturday

   In addition to the office in Suffolk County, Insurance Department staff are available to the public in the Department’s offices at 25 Beaver Street in Manhattan in addition to the following satellite offices which will be open from 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.:

Pier 94 in Manhattan
54th Street and 12th Ave.
Cubicle A-15

Westchester County
75 South Broadway (across from the Westchester Mall)
White Plains
Only Open from Monday - Friday

Nassau County

The Insurance Department has also established a toll-free disaster hotline to help consumers and insurers with any disaster-related questions. The hotline is available from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week at 1-800-339-1759. The Department’s Web site contains up-to-date information on insurance-related issues and contact numbers.
