New York, February 6, 1998

Superintendent of Insurance Neil D. Levin today welcomed Ralph M. Fatigate as Co-Assistant Director of the Department’s Insurance Frauds Bureau. Mr. Fatigate will assist in supervising the Bureau’s insurance fraud investigations under the leadership of Laurence LaPointe, Director of the Insurance Frauds Bureau.

Mr. Fatigate joins the Department from the New York State Banking Department where he has been Supervising Confidential Investigator since 1995. While there he investigated financial fraud in the following areas: mortgage banking and brokers; licensed financial services; commercial banks, thrifts, and foreign banks. He worked with prosecutors on the federal, state, and local level and served as the Banking Department’s liaison to the New York City Police Department.

Prior to joining state government, Mr. Fatigate was Commissioner of Public Safety for the city of Mount Vernon. In that capacity he supervised the approximately 300 employees of the Mount Vernon Police Department.

Mr. Fatigate is certified as a New York State Police Instructor, a Westchester County Police Academy Instructor, a Crime Prevention Officer and a Federal Crime Prevention Specialist. He received his B.A. degree in Business Administration from Empire State College and received certification in Police/Community Psychology from John Jay College of Criminal Justice.

Superintendent Levin said, "I am pleased to welcome Ralph to the Insurance Department. His wealth of experience in criminal justice and fraud investigations will be an important asset to the Insurance Department."
