Age Discrimination, Public Health Law

Summary:  The bill adds a new paragraph to Public Health Law § 2803, to require the New York Patients’ Bill of Rights and Responsibilities to include a provision informing patients of their right not to be discriminated against on account of age.

Effective Date:  The bill is effective 180 days after it becomes law, and authorizes the Commissioner of Health to amend and/or repeal any rules and regulations necessary to implement the bill.

Last Action: Approved and signed by the Governor on August 25, 2008 (Chapter 515 of the Laws of 2008).
