Department Of Financial Services Offering Insurance Assistance in Queens, Nassau County and Suffolk Counties

Department Representatives Available to Answer Consumer Questions; Storm Hotline Also Being Staffed to Help Storm Sandy Victims

Benjamin M. Lawsky, Superintendent of Financial Services, announced that representatives of the Department of Financial Services will be at locations in Queens, Nassau County and Suffolk County to help homeowners, renters and business owners with insurance-related issues stemming from damage caused by Storm Sandy.

The Department's representatives will be available to meet with residents inside the agency's Mobile Command Center, which will be stationed at these locations:


Monday, March 25 – 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Far Rockaway Branch, Queens Library, 1637 Central Ave.

Nassau County

Tuesday, March 26 – 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 85 E. Park Ave. in Long Beach.

Suffolk County

Wednesday, March 27 – 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 1101 Sunrise Highway in Copiague.


Thursday, March 28 – 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Bethany Congregational Church, 100 Main St. in East Rockaway.

Nassau County

Friday, March 29 – 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 11 Lawrence Lane in Lawrence.

Department representatives will help citizens contact their insurers if they have been unable to do so and answer questions about homeowners', renters' and business owners' insurance coverage.

Citizens unable to go to the Mobile Command Center are encouraged to call the Department's storm hotline (800) 339-1759 which is staffed from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday.
