Supplemental Application to Add/Remove Sublicensees
Entities must have at least one qualified officer, director, partner, member, or manager designated as a sublicensee. The sublicensee is the person who can conduct insurance business in the name of the entity.
Entities may add or remove sublicensees from an insurance license via the Department’s electronic licensing application.
Minimum Requirements
All proposed sublicensees must:
- Be 18 years of age or older.
- (For New York residents) Complete any prelicensing education requirements and pass the applicable New York State examination within the last 2 years; or hold a current license with the same lines of authority.
- (For non-residents) Be currently licensed and in compliance in the declared home state for the same lines of authority.
Fees
All licensing fees are non-refundable. A full fee is charged when a license is issued for a licensing period of more than one year; a half fee is charged when a license is issued for a period of one year or less.
For New York resident entities, the full fee is $80, and the half fee is $40.
Non-residents: Fees are determined by the entity’s home state. Please see the Fee Schedules to determine the licensing fee.
