Preforeclosure Filing Information
In order to assist in the administration of New York’s Real Property Law Section 280-D (Section 280-D), which went into effect on April 14, 2021, the Department has updated the preforeclosure filing requirements to include some additional questions for reverse mortgage loans. In addition, the Department has updated its Preforeclosure Proof of Filing to reflect the addition of the new filing requirements.

Vacant Property Filing Information
In order to assist in the administration of the COVID-19 Emergency Foreclosure and Eviction Act of 2020, which includes an exemption for some properties listed in the Department’s Vacant Property Registry, the Department has added a new Vacant Property Proof of Filing feature. The new feature can be accessed upon login to the Registry. Any questions regarding the Proof of Filing or other Registry related matters should be sent to [email protected].
