| Re: | Special Request Pursuant to §308 of the Insurance Law Annual Call for Private Passenger Automobile Insurance Information |
To obtain updated information for the Annual Consumer Guide to Automobile Insurance, which is published in the “Automobile Owners Resource Center” on the Department’s website (pursuant to §337 of the New York Insurance Law), and to assist the Department in monitoring private passenger automobile insurance market conditions in New York, we are requesting that you furnish the following information:
- Contact and Underwriting Practices Information
- Listing of Difficult-to-Insure Vehicles
- Listing of Available Discounts with respective percentages
- Current Rate/Rule Manual and policy forms, including the date(s) those rates and forms were placed in effect (provide Department file numbers or SERFF file numbers)
Your company was selected to receive this request because it is among the leading providers of private passenger automobile insurance in New York.
A self-explanatory Special Report Package is included to guide you in providing information in response to this data request. The responses should be provided in the documents as specified (Microsoft Word, Excel or Adobe Acrobat “PDF”) and delivered via email. As noted in the instructions, if the company has multiple rating programs in effect under NYIL §2352, all responses to this survey should only be applicable to the currently active program.
Please note that the format of the “Confirmation & Questionnaire” Excel form has been updated, and the instructions have been updated to clarify what information we are requesting in the “Difficult to Insure” automobiles section of the report. Incorrectly completed submissions will be returned.
This report also includes an affirmation to be signed by a senior officer of the company. It should be further noted that the submission of a report that contains inconsistent or incorrect data constitutes a willful failure to file this report and may subject the insurer to the assessment of penalties under §109 of the Insurance Law (see Department Circular Letter No. 4 (1993)).
Please refer to the “Instructions” document for the dates that your responses to this request are due. Should you have any questions concerning this report, please contact Financial Services Examiner Helen Yuan by e-mail at [email protected].
