Dr. Hans Heymann

Dr. Hans Heymann, financial expert, economist and director of a Berlin insurance company, was a passionate collector of art and owned a significant collection of German Expressionist paintings.  The core of his collection consisted of 41 oil paintings by Max Pechstein.  Before the family fled Germany, Dr. Heymann deposited his goods and paintings in the Berlin warehouse of Spedition Roth.  His entire art collection was subsequently seized as degenerate art under the authority of the Dienstelle Reichsleiter Rosenberg on February 2, 1942.
