RE: LIENS AGAINST THE PROCEEDS OF FIRE INSURANCE POLICIES

In accordance with the provisions of Chapters 738 and 739, Laws of 1977, which added Section 22 to the General Municipal Law and Section 33-a to the Insurance Law, the City of New York, through the Commissioner of Finance, filed with the Insurance Department a notice of intention to claim against fire insurance proceeds. By the terms of Chapter 738, the Commissioner's notice became effective December 21, 1977; therefore, affected companies are hereby advised that before paying claims under policies issued, reissued, or renewed after November 3, 1977, covering property in the City of New York, inquiries regarding a possible lien should be made by contacting the following:

In accordance with the provisions of the aforesaid law, the City of Newburgh on December 29, 1977, filed with the Insurance Department a notice of its intention to claim against the proceeds of policies of fire insurance. Said notice becomes effective January 30, 1978; therefore, affected companies are hereby advised that before paying claims under policies issued, reissued, or renewed after November 3, 1977, covering property in the City of Newburgh, inquiries regarding a possible lien should be made by contacting the following:
