STATEMENT BY FINANCIAL SERVICES SUPERINTENDENT LINDA A. LACEWELL REGARDING UNICREDIT INCIDENT IN CAPITAL ONE DATA BREACH

NEW YORK – Statement by Financial Services Superintendent Linda A. Lacewell:

“Yesterday, UniCredit S.p.A., a New York State-regulated entity, notified the Department of Financial Services (DFS) of the possible loss of consumer data related to the Capital One data breach. Our top priority is protecting New York consumers.  The Department is deeply concerned and is examining this matter. I remind all State-regulated entities that they have an obligation to promptly report such incidents to the Department.”
